Tygart Valley Molding. This well-known Molding Company located near Elkins, WV was closed in March of this year as a result of financial difficulties, unrelated to the Elkins Plant. The plant site and much of the original equipment was sold at public auction in June. The plant is set up and ready to be put back into operation in the lucrative custom molding business. Five drying kilns remain which together have the capacity to dry over 200,000 bd. ft. of lumber monthly. The kilns are heated by a combination of gas and wood chips. The redevelopment of a new molding plant on the site is supported by a host of state and local incentives. Many of the skilled craftsmen who worked for the original company are still living in the area and make up an excellent work force base for a newly organized company to recruit. The sawdust handling facilities remain in place and the 40,000 sq. ft. plant buildings are in reasonably good condition. Altogether there is over 78,000 sq. ft. of building space and the site contains 7.5 acres of land. Entrepreneurs interested in forming a new company and restarting the plant will find much support from the state economic development authority. The facility with the drying kilns could be valuable to those who produce raw lumber and others whose produt mixes require large quantity of wood drying capabilities. Conveinently located in Beverly, WV the plant offers a unique opportunity for many prospective prospects to develop a wood finishing facility adjacent to the states largest wood harvesting center.
